The Uinta National Forest offers numerous camping opportunities at campsites branching off from the Mirror Lake highway and there are many different ways to enjoy an overnight wilderness experience with family, friends and pets. Horse camping is widely accessible and a wonderful way to enjoy multi-day rides on spectacular trails in the wilderness. The weather is a perfect combination of sunny, low humidity and 75-ish degree-days with crisp temperatures and star filled skies at night. Relax and enjoy the great outdoors surrounded by aspens and firs and enjoy the flavors of outdoor cooking with the background music of a rushing mountain creek. Hiking trails are easy to find with distances and difficulty levels to suit all abilities. Try beautiful Shingle Creek and camp in Pine Valley. The Crystal Lake Loop trail is perfect for a short day hike or ride the 16-mile Soapstone Basin Loop.

Most developed campsites can be reserved prior to arrival through Reserve America. Advance reservations are encouraged for summer weekends and definitely needed for campgrounds along the Mirror Lake Highway, and for sites anywhere over major holiday weekends. Campgrounds have sites available most summer weekends and camping is also allowed in undeveloped areas.
