Fly Fishing

High Star is just minutes away from the Provo River, which is one of the top ten recognized trout rivers in America. The Provo has much to offer those wishing to fly fish, with tackle shops and experienced guides available close by in Park City. With 25 miles of river accessible to the public and fish populations of up to 3000 fish per mile, the opportunities to enjoy the very best of fly-fishing increase with every bend in the river.

The Weber River, which flows through Oakley, just 3 miles north of Kamas is characterized as a trophy trout fishery and is one of Utah’s overlooked gems. Smaller than the Provo, the Weber is largely populated by brown trout, although there is also a good chance of catching rainbows and cutthroats. It has some exceptional hatches throughout the year including its celebrated, early season “mother’s day” caddis hatch.

Both the nearby Provo and the Weber River possess every characteristic to fulfill the most passionate fly fisherman’s desires, from beginners to seasoned anglers.  Practice casting a line from the shores of High Star’s stocked lake, then go and savor the real deal on either of these two spectacular rivers.
