High Star Ranch’s resident vet, Sam Hendrix, currently also practices at Mountain Horse Medical Center, a multi-doctor, regional referral center in Park City. The medical center services horses and owners from Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the clinic offers care to both primary and referral cases.

The surgical suite at Mountain Horse Medical Center boasts the most up-to-date surgical and support equipment available—it even rivals many human hospital operating rooms.  This state-of-the-art suite features its own climate control, complete with positive pressure ventilation to ensure sterility. It also offers closed caption video for remote viewing of surgical procedures, and an integrated boom system for maintaining arthroscopic and endoscopic equipment. 

The main hospital houses a large treatment room with 2 sets of stocks, a self sufficient lab with in-house blood machines, an MRI-ready room (to be installed within the year), and an imaging room that houses the only large capacity x-ray generator in the state. The facility has a 14-stall recovery barn for housing hospitalized patients. There are 2 isolation stalls with ventilation systems designed to house horses with potentially contagious diseases and control the spread of potentially infectious situations.  The brand-new facility offers the latest in technology and skill for diagnosis and treatment.
