Reining at High Star Ranch

There are more horses in Utah per capita than in any other state, and more than a fair number of them are involved in cutting and reining.  Cutting, the traditional and practical Western skill of separating a cow from the herd, is practiced at High Star Ranch both indoors and out.  High Star’s outdoor arena is perfect for the speed and precise movements of reining, and the ideal footing in the Western barn provide fine training facilities.

At High Star Ranch, we enjoy a wide variety of equestrian disciplines – cutting, reining, dressage, trail riding – and we appreciate the differences and similarities.  While it is fun for everyone to have multiple styles of riding on the Ranch, we are careful to provide discipline specific facilities such as separate English and Western training arenas and barns with footing created for the needs of each so that, for example, a sliding stop can be executed to perfection.
