Sitting Tall in the Saddle

No matter how short or tall they stand, no child ever sits higher than when first in the saddle. From its earlier days as the S Bar S, High Star Ranch encouraged kids from Kamas and all over Utah to fall in love with horses and the Western  lifestyle.  High Star Ranch embraces its obligation to promote the joys of equestrian activities by ensuring this legacy continues.

A mother of two, Western trainer Jessica Morgans has a special affinity for teaching children to ride and encouraging them as they progress.  Through her efforts, High Star Ranch is a sponsor and host to Buckaroo Rodeos. Dedicated to kids ages 13 and under, events include Stick Horse Barrel Racing (like regular barrels, only smaller), Mutton Bustin’ (riding a sheep), Goat Tail Tying (tying a pink ribbon on a goat’s tail), Calf Roping, Calf Riding, Bronc Riding and Mini Bull Riding.

The ranch also sponsors  the local 4-H chapter. The 4-H movement began in the early 1900's and revolutionized how science was taught outside of the classroom through practical hands-on programs and experiences. 4-H was also one of the first organizations in America that taught children leadership skills and how to positively impact their communities.
